ARTIST Statement

I spent a portion of my youth living in the South Pacific which had a great influence on how I approach art. I fell in love with the reflection of the sunset dancing over the glassy water, peering into tidal pools, collecting shells, and the vibrancy of the habitat around me. I feel compelled to capture the beauty I see in the world with my work.

I was a painter at Tyler School of Art over thirty years ago when I walked into the hot shop and fell in love with glass. Glass was a way to paint three-dimensionally, involving color and light. My passion for the medium led me to earning my master’s degree at Rhode Island School of Design. I get my greatest joy from making beautiful pieces of glass. The only thing more rewarding is when a person chooses a piece of my art to become a part of their lives.
